Malika Coletta Summer Camp Program Director (Steelpan): MM in Music, Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, Ill (NIU), the oldest collegiate steelband in the United States, only University to offer Masters Degree in Steel drums, studied under steelpan virtuoso Professor Liam Teague “Paganini of Steel”
Adam Grisé (Steelpan Music Director): BA in Music, Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, Ill (NIU), studied under steelpan virtuoso Professor Liam Teague “Paganini of Steel”
Scott Coletta (Ear Training and Theory): MM in Jazz Piano Northern Illinois University, Dekalb(NIU)
Victor Provost (Steelpan Instructor): International Recording Artist and Performer, Jazz Improvisationist, currently attending George Mason University.

Welcome to our
Summer ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT Program
Motto: “DARE TO DREAM - PREPARE TO SUCCEED”
The Cultural Academy for Excellence, has designed a creative and innovative arts-in-education program that has resulted in academic success for our students. Ninety nine 99%of our High School graduates attend college and 60% of our enrolled students are currently on their schools honor roll. Our instructors are experienced in their subject area; many of them are current CAFE Saturday Academy instructors.
During this time of economic uncertainty we feel compelled to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed academically. Studies have shown that students who participate in the arts performer 30% on tests. As a result, we extend our successful Saturday Academy enrichment program, which will focus on the following academic subject:
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
Grades
High School - Grades 9-12
SAT Prep classes are for students preparing to begin their college careers. We will also provide academic strengthening in underachieving area.
Middle School - Grades 7- 8
This program is for students entering high school who need to strengthen their academic skills and gain confidence as they enter high school level.
Elementary School - Grades 4-6
This program will focus on building those fundamental skills that is the important foundation for ensuring future academic success
CAFE welcomes everyone to our program. We will provide an exciting atmosphere that is stimulating for our young campers, and will give them the opportunity to experience success. They will also have the ability to be in an environment where they will have positive interaction with people of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Before and After Care
Parents will have the ability to bring their students to camp 1 hour before (8:00 a.m.) regulation start time and pick up 1hour (6:00 p.m.) after end time. A fee is charged for this service.
CAFE reserves the right to limit enrollment and/or cancel any class if there is overwhelming or insufficient registration
