The arts open a wide range of careers
The arts help children understand their own as well as other cultures and times
The Arts challenge students to think about and respond to themselves and the world of experience in many different ways.
Rationale:
The Arts - music, dance, theatre and the visual arts- are intellectual disciples of substance. Arts skills and processes, knowledge and history, can be taught and learned by all students, not just the talented. They also enhance learning for everyone across the academic spectrum and therefore are of great value for today’s students. Students who participate in arts programs are more likely to succeed and become leaders in whatever field of endeavor they choose.
